what do you need to know in order to apply to settlers’?

AGE

With effect from 2019, we have changed the starting age for new learners. Your child should have turned 12 months before the start of his/her first year at Settlers’, and must transfer to a primary school in the year that he/she turns seven.

LANGUAGE

Our medium of instruction is English.

HEALTH

To ensure the health and safety of all our children, you must produce your child‘s Clinic / Road to Health card to confirm that all statutory immunizations have been administered. A copy of this will be kept at the school.

RELIGION

Settlers’ is officially a Christian school and maintains sound Christian values. We celebrate Christian religious events such as Easter and Christmas, which are part of our teaching programme. Children of other faiths are welcome at our school. Our rich cultural and religious diversity is celebrated in a theme which recognizes and embraces “Our Rainbow Nation”.

CHECK LIST TO MAKE AN APPLICATION TO SETTLERS’

Apply early! The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of securing a place for your child. Please contact the school office and request the relevant application documentation in person.

  • Please submit a small photo of your child with your Application form
  • Admission Form
  • Child“s Developmental History Forms
  • Financial Clearance Certificate (from previous playschool / crèche)
  • Birth Certificate (copy)
  • Clinic / Road to Health card (copy)
  • Proof of Residence
  • Application Fee

After your child has been accepted, you will need to pay an “Acceptance Fee”. You will be invited to attend an Orientation Session which will take place in November.

“Welcome Wednesdays”Families who are interested in viewing the school are welcome to visit each Wednesday at 09:00, when the Principal will conduct a tour of the school and provide information about the educational programme. If this time slot is not suitable, please phone the school to arrange a suitable date and time. We also would be happy for you to arrange a “play-date”, where your child could spend a while exploring our exciting learning environment.
