aftercare | extra mural activities at settlers’ park pre-primary school pietermaritzburg
our aftercare facilities at the school
Aftercare is offered between 12:15 and 17:00 during school terms. We employ a
full-time aftercare supervisor and two assistants. The ethos, discipline
and care of your children is carried over from the morning into the afternoon.
Settlers’ Park Pre-Primary School offers aftercare facilities for all our children.
The daily afternoon routine is as follows:
For the first part of the afternoon, the children are divided into two groups, according to age. (All children bring their own lunch.)
12:10: Older children are sent by their teachers to the garden (weather permitting) or the courtyard, where they play. Younger children go to the toilet, wash hands, have lunch and sleep. After they wake up, they play in our little garden area.
13:00: Older children do toilet and washing routine, and then eat their lunch. After lunch, some of the children have an afternoon rest, while others have a story read to them or do creative activities.
At 15:00 the groups join for juice and biscuits (provided by the school).
After juice and biscuits, the children all play together in the garden.
On a Friday, as a treat, we have movies and popcorn (provided by the school).
We try to create a happy home-away-from-home environment.
A wide range of optional extramural activities are offered. These are
